been some cap talk lately, this article covers alot, including some good ideas on where to mount.
Just received a SMD capacitor board from banggood. It is a lower profile which I need for a frame transplant. The negative is a lower capacitance (470uf) and cost at $2.75 each. I couldn't find info on the ESR rating but my understanding is that ceramic and SMD capacitors have a naturally lower ESR, and this board was designed for quads and appear to be the same caps found on PDBs so perhaps the ESR rating is not factor. Wiring a couple in parallel would increase the capacitance but that would be expensive and add weight.
